Why Play Beach Volleyball?

Beach volleyball is one of the fastest growing sports in the country right now, and it’s not hard to figure out why. Beach volleyball became an NCAA sponsored sport just seven years ago and has since grown to over 100 schools that now sponsor the sport. In the year 2019 there were 25 schools who added beach volleyball, with 73 more projected to be added by the year 2024.

We believe in offering our athletes the chance to succeed in both the indoor and outdoor game and possibly open more college door options than you thought possible. If you are a player who wants to become a more complete volleyball player, then beach is for you. The good thing about beach is that it doesn’t require position specific skills. This means that every athlete, whether tall or short, will train equally in every skill that is required to be successful in the game of beach doubles.

We have found that almost every athlete who plays beach, comes to the indoor game with a new and improved set of skills because of what beach requires. Whatever your weaknesses are, you get to work on them a ton. Unlike the 6 person game, you touch the ball in every rally, and with just two of you covering the court, you learn to read and anticipate much better. Dealing with the sun and wind helps you be more adaptable. Player height is less important outdoors where ball control and skill is more important.

If you are currently an indoor player and have never thought about the benefits that beach volleyball can provide, give it a try. Not only will your skills improve, but you’ll have fun doing it. So grab your sun block, sun glasses and sand socks and come join us on the beach this summer, you’ll be glad you did.

Our Beach Director

Alex is our Beach Director for Epic Volleyball Club and comes to us after Directing the Racine Boom Volleyball Club for 4 seasons. He has over 12 seasons of coaching experience at both the indoor club and outdoor beach levels and will be a National coach for our indoor program this season. Alex takes pride in developing complete players and loves coaching multi-sport student-athletes because it helps reduce “burn-out.” Working hard to play volleyball at the highest levels at both outdoor beach doubles and indoor men’s 6’s has helped Alex successfully find what it takes to motivate players from a wide variety of skill levels and backgrounds. No player is left behind. Alex ensures that players will develop their physical prowess, their volleyball I.Q. AND a strong sense of TEAM!

Beach FAQ

Q: What if I miss practice for the beach training and can I make them up?

  • A: We understand that it’s summer and families have many things going on. If you miss a practice, that is totally fine, there are no consequences besides just missing the reps for that day. We have the days scheduled throughout the summer, and it is up to you to decide what it is you can commit to making.

Q: Can we get a prorated amount or partial refund if I can’t make all the practices and tournaments?

A: No, we feel the programs are appropriately priced, even if you can only make a portion of the practices. It’s up to you to manage your summer schedule to be at as many as you can.

Q: Where do you practice?

A: THE LANES ON 20

Q: What times and days do you practice?

A: Practice times for k-4th grade will be Wednesdays 9-10am. The Beach Performance Training will be Tuesdays and Thursdays 9-10:30am.

Q: What if the weather is bad, will we still have practice?

A: We will do our best to monitor the weather before practice and get out an announcement if it is going to be canceled at least an hour ahead. If there is some rain but no lightning, plan on practice NOT being canceled. Our main goal is to keep everyone safe.

Q: How do I know which program is best for me?

A: If you are looking to train with one partner all summer and compete in tournaments, the beach power league may be the best option for you. Players who are thinking about pursuing beach in their future or really want to improve for their indoor seasons will benefit from this program.

A: If you want to learn the game of beach and don’t have a specific partner you are playing with, you may want to consider the performance training program. We will still train high-level beach doubles, but it will be geared on the skills and strategy of the game instead of team-specific strategy.

Q: How do I register for one of the programs?

A: You can register for either program by clicking HERE
